Podcasts allow newsrooms to reach audiences in a more intimate, on‑demand format and can complement written reporting. At the 2025 LINA Summit Angela Priestley (Women’s Agenda) described podcasts as “easier than other revenues” and often more accessible to audiences e.g. they can listen while multitasking.

LINA offers access to two news products unique to our membership.

NewsREAM is a widget/plug-in that enables publishers to generate income through self-serve listings, launching early 2026. 

This plug-in has been developed by LINA and Newsport, a news publisher in Far North Queensland. Newsport has been using the widget to host real estate listings and has successfully turned this into a reliable and regular revenue stream.

Mercato and LINA have partnered to help independent newsrooms access advertising and commercial opportunities that are otherwise difficult to secure individually.

These plug and play small-screen retail display devices present an opportunity to promote your news headlines to new audiences, and to generate complementary advertising revenue with a new product offering for clients.
