LINA Summits

The annual LINA Summit brings news publishers and journalists from across Australia together to network, hear from industry experts, and access invaluable training, workshops and panels.

Hosted in Melbourne 2025, Port Douglas 2024 and Sydney 2023.

Melbourne 2025

Co-hosted by The Westsider

Our largest Summit yet, with over 150 delegates joining us, including our first international guests! International News Media Association‘s Jodie Hopperton provided our keynote address, with Broadstreet also joining us from the US for several workshops on implementing and selling advertising. Other focuses included revenue growth, HR for newsrooms, and journalism ethics and purpose.

Port Douglas 2024

Co-hosted by Newsport

A big focus of the 2024 Summit was on AI — how newsrooms can improve efficiency and save time on business operational tasks without compromising their journalism or editorial standards. Audience trust, newsletter strategies and solutions journalism were other topics that came under the spotlight.

Travel subsidies

LINA members receive not only highly subsidised tickets to the Summit, but travel grants to help you get there, making attendance almost free for many delegates!

Sydney 2023

Co-hosted by Canva.

The inaugural Summit, hosted by our partners at Canva, brought together LINA newsrooms for the first time, with many establishing connections for ongoing collaboration and idea-sharing that have been maintained to this day. Both the Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland and former shadow minister for communications David Coleman attended to address delegates and share their support for LINA’s work.
