South Australian Local Government Community Engagement Charter

LINA’s feedback to the South Australian Office of Local Government regarding the draft Community Engagement Charter.

LINA’s letter expressed support for the Charter and its principles, which is a significant positive step forward from the outdated Local Governments Act. We have also outlined suggestions to further improve community engagement while supporting the capacity and sustainability of local newsrooms, such as the requirement that public notices regarding elections also be published in news publications, and including a legislated minimum government advertising spend in local news publications.
