The 10 week program gives you hands-on support from expert mentors to turn your ideas into income-generating projects.

LINA is offering subsidised access to industry experience and support through Jenni Ryall at Other Labs to develop your project concept and learn the test and learn product development model. Mentors for the last group included AX Mina, Jocelin Abbey and Kristin Carlos. Stay tuned for mentor announcements for this cohort.

Over 10 weeks, you will:

  • Join a practical online training workshop in October
  • Work with mentors each fortnight
  • Check in monthly with a small cohort of peers
  • Share milestones with the wider LINA network

Cost

You’ll access industry expertise at a fraction of the cost — LINA covers 75% of fees. Publishers must contribute $1,000 + GST to participate.

Previous program outcomes:

Projects from the February to April 2025 program included:

  • Publisher A achieved 1,000 new memberships and 200 newsletter subscriptions by running a paid and organic campaign. This scaled the revenue from the membership platform from $5,000 in annualised value to $60,000.
  • Publisher B launched a weekend edition newsletter to improve monetisation through ad sales. The result was an additional $2,100 ad sales in just two weeks and increased ad revenue of $5,584 across the 8 week period, plus 200 new subscribers.
  • Publisher C launched a new revenue stream through TikTok, generating $3,500 across an 8 week period.
  • Publisher D conducted a review of its media kit and streams of revenue and increased bookings by 24% to $62,872 in a single (monthly) issue. The newsroom also built a 2 year roadmap and a new media kit resulting in 16 new client meetings.
  • Publisher E grew its reader contribution income from 29% of subscribers to 36% alongside an increase of contribution tiers.
  • Publisher F launched an event and restaurant guide with 40 free, 2 paid and 1 featured listing achieved toward a target of 30-50 listings.

A.X. Mina

A.X. Mina is a strategic consultant and leadership coach with over a decade of global experience in organisational strategy and leadership, technology development, public speaking, and media.

She serves as a founding board member of the News Product Alliance and a part-time Program Director at The Self-Investigation and has coached, trained and lectured in programs with LION, CUNY, American Press Institute, the National Press Club Journalism Institute, the OpEd Project and others.

Her work takes a product-first and agile approach, designed around informed and measurable experiments to identify viable and scalable strategies.

Jocelin Abbey

Jocelin Abbey is an award-winning growth marketing and audience development consultant. She’s driven by the positive ripple effect of building deep audience relationships – creating value for businesses, as well as the communities they serve.

With 20 years of experience across media, entertainment, tech and non-profit sectors, Jocelin has led transformative initiatives; from experience & CRM design, to subscription revenue development, through to campaigning for key social issues like minimising our environmental impact. She has held leadership roles at Mamamia, The Guardian, ABC, Yahoo, and Nova Entertainment.

Her leadership has been recognised with the B&T Women in Media Award for Marketing. Passionate about representation and inclusion within the media industry, she served on the ABC’s Indigenous Advisory Committee and contributed to The Guardian (AU/NZ)’s Reconciliation Action Plan Committee.

Jocelin Abbey

Kristin Carlos

Kristin Carlos brings over 20 years of international experience leading transformative digital, marketing, and product strategies across media, technology, health and wellness and aviation industries.

She has held senior leadership positions at some of the world’s most recognised brands, including Yahoo!, Qantas, Facebook, Instagram, and News Corp Australia. Kristin has a proven track record of driving organisational change, with expertise in scaling digital products, implementing modern technology solutions, and embedding customer insights into decision-making.

Kristin’s consulting business helps founders grow their businesses efficiently and sustainably, leveraging her extensive network and experience in the challenges of scaling a business.
